Here is one day in the life at the Institute!

Are You Ready!?! Let's Go!

This was a beautiful, busy day!!

 πŸ’¦πŸ’€ Emotional Resilience πŸ’€πŸ’¦

Tuesday 10:30am Class

Mayeli, Emeli, Jorgelina, Paloma, Wimerly, Scarlet

πŸ’— We had such a beautiful discussion together. πŸ’—

These are special girls & they loved the three-part lessons on HOPE.

We learned about the gospel organized when Christ was on the earth. He put all of the necessary things for His Church, He Atoned for all, then came the Apostacy, and then Christ restored the Church back onto the earth (as promised) through Joseph Smith in our day.

We talked about the blessing it is to have the power of God on the earth again, binding us together as eternal families. With marriage for time and all eternity by one authorized with proper authority. Wimerly said, "WOW!! Not death do us part!?" She said, "I don't understand why babies are baptized?" Jorgelina said, "Isn't being like a child our goal?" We shared - "We listened to the plan in the premortal existance, our spirit heard Heavenly Fathers plan, that is why you are so happy now and this makes so much sense to you now". They loved learning this. They are so smart. They understand so much!! We also talked about being able to make and keep covenants to protect us from the adversary. He is the master of chaos.

Now they are learning from the proselytizing missionaries!! πŸ˜…

After class we go to

 πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ’¦Hermana's ConferenceπŸ’¦πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

These sisters are so fun and beautiful!!

Sweet Hna Nydegger always gives Hna Ellis a hug!!
And she LOVES it!!

This will be Hna Anna Stinson soon!

Congratulations Anna on receiving the BEST mission call EVER!!

❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤

Dariledy and Hna love making cookies together

These cookies are for next weeks classes object lesson:
When we make cookies, we don't add rocks or cement to the cookie dough, that is not part of the plan.
It is not the Plan of rocky cement.
It is the Plan of Happiness, Hope, and Salvation!
When Christ was on the earth, He put all of the components in His Church that were essential for His people to walk the covenant path.

πŸ’₯ We prepare lessons and treats for future classes πŸ’₯

And last, but not least

πŸ’’ The Tuesday COCINA Evening Class πŸ’’

Tortellini, Salami, Chicken Salad

This is a dish Sharon Dutra (Elder Ellis' sister)πŸ’—makes.
(It is one of our favorites) Thanks Sharon!!
We learned how to make this in the Cocina class and clearly we didn't make enough!

But they did a great job! It was fabulous!

There are many different ingredients and flavors found in this dish, each having their own unique flavor; tortellini, chicken, salami, peanuts, 2 dif types of onion, three types of cheeses, etc..
yet each compliment the other,
and that is what makes the salad so good!
In this same way, the gospel of Jesus Christ needs every different type of personality and person, together we make a beautiful mix. This with the gospel brings a smile to our face and to Heavenly Father's face. He loves to see His children love each other.
In the gospel there are many different ingredients too. Each different blessing comes together like all of the flavors of the pasta salad.
In the gospel we have been given so much; the Book of Mormon, priesthood keys, authority and power, our Baptismal and temple covenants, the Sacrament and Atonement.
We enjoy these blessings every day.

You just spent one day at the Institute!!

Don't you love these YSA's now!?!

❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤

We attended Stake Conference with the Santiago East Stake

They really do a great job with their flowers and their choir!

Afterwards we were invited to join the current (and soon to be future) temple president for dinner at the home of familia Vega

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed a beautiful traditional meal

Everything was amazing!!

As it turns out we saw Moises

who is the familia Vega's son, one of our YSA's from the Cocina class

There are 30 nonmembers enrolled.

We are seeing them come together finally happen! πŸ˜‚

Who knew that jewelry making would have the power to do this?

Jesus Christ and His Everlasting Gospel
Wednesday night class

We learned that Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd

He is our good Shepherd and is a great example to us. We enjoyed learning how we can be great ministers, and great shepherds, too.
We got to eat Shepherds pie.

Emotional Resilience
Thursday's 12:30pm Class

We enjoyed something new!
French toast w/strawberries & whipped cream!
With Brayan, Josue and Jade,
(Nicole and Genesis are not in the picture)

In class we learned the art of listening to others and to our intuitive self. Psychological studies show this is our highest self. It is trustworthy, our best self, and where we feel the spirit. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe this is where we find the Light of Christ, also known as our conscience.

 Emotional Resilience

A Beautiful Surprise!

A tender mercy of love from Heavenly Father

Hna Ellis prayed one night that she would be able to see her long missed and loved friend, Nicole before heading back home to Utah. The next day she came into the Institute to say "Hi!"

We love her, we are so glad we know her and we are so grateful her feet are solidly planted on gospel sod.

She is one of our forever friends.

❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤πŸ’—❤❤❤

It is Perla's Birthday!

There is so much love here at the Institute! We love sharing it and we love receiving it! We can't believe we are saying good bye to yet another amazing semester in a few weeks. While it has been the busiest semester we've experienced to date, we love and are excited with what is happening at the Institute!
We feel honored to be part of this outpouring of love for God and for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is exciting to sit in the front row seat and watch it unfold right before our eyes.
The gospel is true. So is our love for each and every one of you!

As always,

  1. It has been forever since I have been able to hug a Soursop Tree or to give one a kiss on the lips, but well done on seedlings you have going there. What a great gift and ongoing symbol of your love for each other. It is clear that you are having the time of you lives. I hope I live to see the day that Cheryl and I can follow you example of serving together as you now are. If feels like it will take a miracle, but I certainly believe in those so we shall see what the future brings. For now must be content to live my dream by proxy through you and the Parmers.

Do you know when you are being released? You make it sound like it is very soon. Where has all the time gone?

I know that the lessons and principles you are teaching. These young people will affect their lives in a positive way forever. They are so lucky to have you. It is interesting to see some classes that seem to be all girls and others that seem to be all boys with maybe one or two girls scattered in. Do you work with male and female or are there times when it is just one or the other? There seems to be a lot more girls than boys at most of the activities I am seeing, or is that just a common problem?

What would you say is the biggest challenge that these young single adults face in their particular circumstances? Is it education, finding a good reliable spouse that they can count on, economic issues, etc? And how does the education that they receive from you manifests itself in positive ways in their lives that you notice? Are you working with the same group of people that you started with or do they come and go after a certain period of time?

Sorry for all the questions. I just know from our experience in serving in Provo, along with the two of you, they all started to feel like they were our own children and we love them all regardless of their flaws, suppose mainly, because we became so acutely aware of our own at the same time.

We love you two, and we love those young people that you serve even though we will never meet them here in mortality. Oh how I wish we could be forever be a part of one another's lives, just as Jesus teaches in John 17. "That we all may be one". I look forward to that blessed day.

Thank you for your example, and for always being so good and kind to us, literally from the first day we first met you. Even if essential oils are not my thing and I love hamburgers with just ketchup.

Be safe and well my forever friends.

    1. I apologize in advance for any typos. I was in a hurry, and I'm sure it is filled with them.

  3. Hi Todd! I think Sister Ellis is answering most of your questions, so I'll leave that part to her. As for John 17: I already feel like we are family with you and Cheryl, and I don't think heaven would feel right if we weren't all together as family, because, at any rate, I'm sure we are 19th cousins, or something like that. And as for hamburgers with just ketchup, we still love you!!
